Visa Application Process
For individuals seeking to work, live, or study in the UK, the visa application process has been streamlined with the introduction of new immigration routes.
Applying for your visa is now easier than ever, as you can complete the entire process online.
As part of your application, you will be required to provide your biometric information. The process varies depending on your citizenship:
- European Union, European Economic Area, and Swiss citizens: For most visas, you can simply provide a digital photo of your face using a smartphone app. Fingerprints are not required.
However, for certain routes, you may need to visit an overseas visa application centre to have your photo taken.
- Non-EU citizens: You will still need to submit your fingerprints and a photo at an overseas visa application centre.
Skilled Workers
The points-based system offers a pathway for skilled workers who have received a job offer from an approved employer sponsor.
To qualify, the job must be at a required skill level of RQF3 (requests for qualifications level 3) or higher (equivalent to A level), and you must demonstrate proficiency in English.
Additionally, you must be paid the ‘standard’ salary rate of at least £38,700 per year, or the ‘going rate’ for your job, whichever is higher.
For a detailed explanation of how the points system operates, please refer to the further details on Gov.uk website below;
If you are not currently a licensed sponsor but anticipate sponsoring migrants through the skilled worker route, it is advisable to submit an application promptly.
International Students and Graduates
Student visa options have been expanded to include citizens of the EU, EEA, and Swiss citizens. To study in the UK, you must meet the following criteria:
- Have received an offer to study on a course
- Demonstrate proficiency in English language skills
- Show proof of financial capability to support yourself and cover course fees
Additionally, a new graduate visa has been introduced for international students who have successfully completed a degree in the UK.
Global Talent Scheme
The global talent scheme has been opened to EU, EEA and Swiss citizens. It allows highly-skilled scientists, researchers and leaders to come to the UK and take on employment opportunities.
